Secondary School Vitorino Nemésio (Escola Secundária Vitorino Nemésio - ESVN) is a middle and secondary school, with 780 students aged from 12 to 18 years. The school is located in the town of Praia da Vitória, but most of the students live in rural areas who come from different social backgrounds, with different lifestyles. This school has already been a pioneer in projects like e-learning, vocational courses in different areas, Entrepreneurship Education and the pedagogical garden patch. Recently, ESVN started a process on internationalization, taking up Erasmus+ and eTwinning projects, focusing on opening up to European experiences and values. ESVN, thus, stands out for its spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, in an effort to be a center of innovation and creativity of the municipality. It is a place where teachers and the remaining staff (psychologists and Special Needs teachers) feel that they can contribute, from a holistic perspective, to the education and training of fully aware, creative and autonomous citizens.
The school is divided in curricular departments, like Science, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Arts and Technology, Social Sciences and Sports, and holds specialized services such as Psychology and Counseling services and a multidisciplinary team made up of school staff and other partners in the field of health.
